doweshowbellyad=0; BANGALORE: Do Narayana Murthy and photography go together? Going by concrete results, they sure do. The Infosys chairman has his say and signature on all its new office buildings. "I travel 25 days a month and whenever I come across something that is arresting or striking, I photograph it. It stays on my mind and when we are coming up with new plans for our campuses, we use these as a base, work on these to suit our needs and create something which is completely different and innovative," says Murthy...
The software complex for 1,600 engineers coming up in Pune looks like a next-generation spaceship taking off and will be ready by the end of this year. Another in Mysore which draws on the principles of origami (the Japanese art of folding paper) will also be ready by this year-end for 2,500 employees. The ones coming up in the Electronics City campus at Bangalore and in Hyderabad look like scenes right out of Star Trek. Each facility has a 2500-strong capacity and will be launched next year... ...Murthys mantra is exquisite in its simplicity: Do extraordinary things with ordinary things. "We have creative people here and we have to prove to the world that we are capable of doing extraordinary things. We just need to go that extra mile," he says. From a mere three-building structure 10 years ago, the Electronics City campus has now 40 buildings. And, the latest one, designed by Murthy and Hafeez Contractor, has all the trappings of a sci-fi movie set. The largest convention centre in the city is also coming up here.
